Newt Gingrich Warns of Very Dangerous Rhetoric as Political Tensions Escalate

Washington, D.C. — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has warned that escalating political hostility in the U.S. is becoming dangerous for democracy. In a Fox News interview, he criticized Democratic leaders for promoting what he called “toxic rhetoric” and “extreme tactics,” saying the rule of law must be enforced equally to prevent chaos.

Gingrich compared today’s political climate to America’s most divided historical moments, urging both parties to avoid treating opponents as enemies. “You can’t wage political war against your own country and expect freedom to survive,” he said.

Amid growing investigations into President Trump’s administration, Gingrich claimed Democrats are weaponizing oversight, while also defending Elon Musk, a key advisor on government reform, against what he sees as politically motivated attacks.

He accused congressional Democrats of showing emotional detachment during Trump’s recent address to Congress and warned of widespread public distrust in government. Citing polling from his group, Gingrich said 82% of Americans believe the political system is corrupt — a sign of a broader crisis of legitimacy.

Despite his harsh tone, Gingrich ended with a call for unity: “We are one nation. If we forget that, everything else stops mattering.”
